Getting Around


  • Public Transport Taxi cabs found at dedicated areas or taxi ranks in the central business district.  
    Metro Bus Service.  Visit the General Post Office (GPO) on the corner of Elizabeth and Macquarie Street to find out more about day tickets, bus routes and general transport.
    Water Taxi.  Docks opposite Customs House Hotel easily found on the Hobart Waterfront.

  • Car Parking
    Easy access public parking includees Centrepoint Shopping Centre, opposite Royal Hobart Hospital at Argyle Street Car Park and Trafalgar Place Car Park which runs off Davey Street easily found behind St David's Cathedral standing on the corner of Murray and Davey Streets, Hobart.


  • City Walking  Hobart is generally a very safe and peaceful city however, it is a good idea to walk in well lit, main stream areas at night time.  In Australia we dial '000' to be connected to Police, Fire or Hospital/Paramedic emergency services.

  • Public Amenities/Toilets
    The City of Hobart has convenient amenities available throughout parks, gardens, Department stores and they are generally, well maintained.
